在文章或是句子中，很常會看到 as soon as，你確定你知道它的意思和用法了嗎？其他相關用法或是非常像的字你也知道怎麼使用嗎？
As soon as 的用法
一般看到 as... as 時，第一個想法就是，意思是「和...一樣...」。
as soon as 後免若是接名詞，確實是可以翻成「和...一樣快」，但這邊的 as soon as 並不是這種用法喔！
這裡所說的 as soon as，通常後面會接一個完整句子
As soon as + S + V, S + V，中文意思則是翻成「一...就...」
ex.) As soon as I finished my homework, I went out with friends.
(我一完成功課，就和朋友出去了。)
因此，一般常看到的 as soon as ，指的是「一做完什麼事，就發生什麼事」的意思，並且是作為連接詞，用來連接兩個句子喔！
As soon as 的同義用法
而除了用 as soon as 來表達 「一...就...」之外，有些句型也可表達這個意思喔！
The moment/instant/minute + S + V, S + V.
這幾個字不算是連接詞，算是慣用的用法，但是可以和 as soon as 互換使用喔！用上面舉的例子來做說明：
ex.) As soon as I finished my homework, I went out with friends.
= The moment/instant/minute I finished my homework, I went out with friends. (我一完成功課，就和朋友出去了。)
Upon/On + V-ing, S + V.
這裡是用 upon 或 on 的介系詞用法，須注意 upon 和 on 的後面不是接句子，而是接 V-ing！同樣用上面舉的例子來說明：
ex.) As soon as I finished my homework, I went out with friends.
= Upon/On finishing my homework, I went out with friends.
(我一完成功課，就和朋友出去了。)
(※注意：使用 Upon/On + V-ing, S + V. 的句型時，必須前後主詞以樣，才可使用喔！)
ex.) As soon as Mary entered the house, the bell rang.
(瑪莉一踏進家裡，鈴聲就響起了。)
→ 此句中前面的主詞是 Mary，而後句的主詞是 the bell，因為前後句主詞不同，因此不能使用Upon/On + V-ing, S + V. 的句型。

as soon as 意思是「一...就...」，用來連接兩個句子
用法是：As soon as + S + V, S + V
也可以改用 The moment/instant/minute + S + V, S + V.
以及 Upon/On + V-ing, S + V. 的句型。

1. as soon as 一…就
as soon as 的中文意思是指「一…就」。
例：
He left as soon as he saw her.
他一看見她就離開了。
例：
As soon as I saw her, I knew there was something wrong.
我一看到她就知道出事了。
2.為什麼 as soon as ～ 是「剛……就～」？
《最強圖解英文文法》的作者在書中有解釋，為什麼 as soon as 是「剛….就….」的意思。首先要準備2 句英文。
• It began to rain soon.「不久就開始下雨了。」
• He went out soon.「不久他就出門了。」
這2句要以 as…as 聯繫，造出 as…as ∼ 的句型。
It began to rain as soon as he went out soon.
硬將這句話直譯，會得到如下結果：
「就在跟他出門同樣不久（同時，馬上）就開始下雨了。」
其次是省略「重複」的第2 個soon（句末）。
It began to rain as soon as he went out.
「他剛出門就開始下雨了。」
換句話說，as soon as… 是「跟……同樣不久」→「與此同時」。
另外，如果將 as soon as 當作一個連接詞來用，也可以造出以下句子：
例：As soon as he went out, it began to rain.
他一出門就開始下雨。
3. as soon as possible 盡快
as soon as possible 則是另一個很常見的英文用法，意思是「盡快地、越快越好」。
例：
Please reply as soon as possible.
