whereas中文是什麼意思？有哪些用法？

常常出現在選項中的 whereas ，是什麼意思呢？

whereas (連接詞) 雖然；儘管/而；但

1. whereas 有「雖然、儘管」的意思，可以用來連接兩個句子

   句型：Whereas + S + V, S + V

   此時也可改用 although/though/even though 來代換

   即：Although/Though/Even though + S + V, S + V

   
   

   ex.) Whereas (= Although/Though/Even though) I am not good-looking, I have a soft heart.

   (雖然我其貌不揚，但是我有顆善良的心。)

   
   

   ※注意：中文會說「雖然...但是...」，但在英文中 although 和 but 只能擇一使用，不能同時出現！

   
   
   

2. whereas 還有「而、但」的意思，也可以用來連接兩個句子

   句型：Whereas + S + V, S + V

   此時也可改用 while 來代換

   即：While + S + V, S + V

   
   

   ex.) My dad wanted to watch the basketball game, whereas (= while) my mom wanted to watch the Korean TV drama.

   (我爸爸想看球賽，但我媽媽想看韓劇。)

   
   

   ※注意：whereas/while 也可放在句中來寫
