My Learning Journey

It was August 8, 2020. I was at my grandma’s friend’s lake house. I was watching the Radio Disney Music Awards, and one of the winners was the worldwide famous boy band, BTS. I had never listened to BTS before, so I decided to listen to one of their songs. So I listened to Boy With Luv, and I really liked it so I listened to Fake Love, then The Truth Untold. I started to really like BTS’ music. I watched funny video clips about BTS, and I started to fall in love with each member’s personality. The only problem was that they spoke Korean, and I only spoke English and Spanish.

That’s when I decided to learn Korean. I spent about three months teaching myself Korean, using resources like Talk To Me In Korean and Howtostudykorean.com. Things were going great, but teaching myself Korean was starting to get more complicated. So I decided to get a Korean tutor. I asked my grandma to pay for me to have a Korean tutor, and she said yes, if I could find one. So I did some research, and that’s when I found out about Amazing Talker.

The first teacher I chose was Ryan Lee. He is from Daegu, South Korea. My first class with him was amazing! He is very patient and kind. He explains things really well and corrects my mistakes. He told me right from the beginning that his expectations for me were high, and that inspired me to work and study hard. Mr. Ryan’s classes are really fun, and I am learning a lot. I am very excited to learn Korean with Mr.Ryan in the future! My dream is to live in South Korea, and I think learning with Mr. Ryan will help me accomplish that.

  • I really enjoyed your Korean study story. I hope you can communicate with more people and enjoy it by studying Korean. Because there are so many good people in Korea! I hope we can meet again if we are meant to be. Actually, I am teaching Korean, too. If you have any questions about Korean culture or travel food, please feel free to ask! I'll be waiting
