Words are mighty things, and their power is peculiar. This is why I love teaching.
I was born and raised in London and I studied English at one of the top 20 universities in the UK. This means I have an in-depth knowledge of English semantics, phonetics and grammar.
I also studied cognitive processes in the brain, and HOW we acquire language. At the same time as studying the ways in which we acquire language I decided to really experience this first-hand learning Spanish, which I now speak fluently.
I have taught ESL in language academies, in companies, primary and secondary schools based in Spain and Shanghai.
I am highly interested in experimental methodologies; cognitive conditions and their influences, as well as the psychological attitudes of students - such as the approach to a malleability of intelligence, and the influence of motivation.
My goal of attaining truly high standards of teaching can be seen through my ambition and determination to learn Mandarin. In order to accurately understand the obstacles my students face I have role-reversed from teaching to learning so as to experience the process fully - undertaking the challenge to learn the language most incomparable to my native tongue, Mandarin.
I am here for you to tell me whether you want to solidify your grammar knowledge or speaking practise with grammar tips and explanations to help you improve personal to you.
See you soon in class!
