I have been teaching young and old students, both in the classroom and online. Most of my teaching experience has been with Asian students. Particularly with students who speak Chinese. I am very experienced with helping my students with pronunciation. I know when to go slowly and how to help students feel comfortable when speaking. I also know how to guide students through common trouble spots (such as pronouncing ‘R’/ ‘Th-’/ ‘L-” correctly and clearly).
My home is in New Jersey, U.S.A. New Jersey is located at the crossroads of New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. My native accent is clear and common of the north eastern U.S.
In my lessons, I aim to evenly incorporate reading, writing, speaking, and listening. As an expat studying and living in a Chinese speaking culture, I know full well the importance of evenly studying all 4 modes of communication. However, I can focus strongly on one particular mode (such as speaking or listening) if the student requests.
Every second of class time is a precious opportunity to practice English. Therefore, I always prepare for lessons and have good material ready to go.
My attributes as a teacher can be summed up as follows....
-clean and clear speaking
-materials to use
-patient
-well prepared
